Duke 4Sport

Volleyball NSW is proud to support The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a global youth development program empowering young Australians aged 14-24 to explore their full potential regardless of their location or circumstance.

We offer a range of diverse and enjoyable opportunities for Duke of Ed Participants across NSW to complete their Physical Recreation, Skills and Voluntary Service sections at all levels of the Award.

Young people who go through the program:

  • Are equipped and empowered to achieve their personal best

  • Become connected to and actively engaged within their immediate community
  • Make a real difference to society through their positive contributions and involvement
  • Learn to persevere and overcome barriers to success
  • Learn important life skills
  • Increase their career opportunities.

Our experienced and skilled members meet Working with Children Check requirements and are willing to be a Participant’s Duke of Ed Assessor.

Please note - people have to be members of VNSW to complete their Duke of Ed through VNSW and affiliated clubs, whether that be through a playing or non-playing membership.

Get Involved

The partnership between Duke 4Sport and VNSW creates a link between the principals of the award, and an avenue to complete it via volleyball activities at a VNSW affiliate. Participants can get involved with the Duke of Ed Award by completing hours through voluntary service, skill development and physical recreation. This can include coaching and refereeing, fundraising, event coordination, and simply playing and training, among a host of other activities.

Clubs are encouraged to engage with Duke 4Sport participants because of the positive benefits associated with the award for both the participant and the club, specifically in attracting young athletes and volunteers through something as simple as opportunity. You can then talk to your Club about the opportunities available to complete the Physical Recreation, Skills and/or Voluntary Service sections of the award, or contact lachlan.marsh@volleyballnsw.com.au to help find a suitable affiliate.

Before contacting VNSW or affiliated clubs regarding your award, you must first be registered as a Participant with a Duke of Ed Award Centre.
